The size of your TV should match the size of your space. TVs are measured diagonally, from 32" to over 75". For example, a 32" TV is approximately 81 cm diagonal, while a 75" model reaches approximately 191 cm. When choosing, keep in mind that the perception of space often differs between the store and at home, so a screen will generally appear larger at home.
Here are the approximate equivalents of television sizes in inches converted to centimeters:
- 32 inches ≈ 81 cm
- 40 inches ≈ 102 cm
- 43 inches ≈ 109 cm
- 50 inches ≈ 127 cm
- 55 inches ≈ 140 cm
- 65 inches ≈ 165 cm
- 75 inches ≈ 191 cm
- 85 inches ≈ 216 cm
These conversions are rounded for ease of common use.
LCD screens are more common and offer good image quality at a lower cost. OLED displays, although more expensive, offer deeper blacks and better contrast thanks to individual pixel illumination technology.
LCD and LED refer to the same liquid crystal display technology, but LED uses light-emitting diodes for backlighting, providing thinner, more energy-efficient displays compared to older tube-backlit LCDs.
For screen sizes above 40 inches, opt for 4K (UHD) resolution for better image quality, even with Full HD content. 8K, although available, does not currently provide a significant improvement in image quality.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) improves the brightness and colors of images by extending the luminance range. Ultra HD Premium is a certification for high-end televisions, guaranteeing a minimum UHD resolution and compatibility with HDR.
A Smart TV is a television connected to the Internet, which allows access to a variety of online content. It can be connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable or a Wi-Fi connection. Manufacturers generally offer an integrated service portal allowing users to stream films and series, browse the web, and access applications and games directly from their TV.
